Me, Pausing to catch what's on the TV

This was taken the evening of Jan. 9, 2009.

You can see how chapped and red my nose is from all the sneezing and blowing. Will be happy when the winter is over and I can turn this heater off. Seems like Pete is even more cold natured than ever this year! Doesn't seem like the heater ever goes off when he's here. I dread to see the next gas bill... oh well. I turn it off when he's at work, but as soon as he gets home, it goes right back on.

Don't know what just happened, but half my post just disappeared. Oh well, I shall begin anew....

I was saying: I hadn't been doing any walking or exercises since the days just after Thanksgiving. 2008 was not a good year in this regard. I gained back all the weight I had lost in 2007. I didn't feel well nearly the entire year... But I refuse to feel like a failure. I did what I could. Maybe it wasn't enough, but it was what I could do. And now that the New Year has come, I'm beginning again on a walking and exercise routine. Or as much routine as anything ever gets around here.

Anyway... so we got an mp3 player for Christmas. And I finally got around to putting some of my music on it yesterday. When I went for my walk I grabbed it and took it with me to the treadmill. I was having so much fun listening to my music without having anyone tell me to turn it down... before I knew it I had gone two miles! That's great, since the last time I did any walking I could not do two miles.

Then today, I didn't walk. Rather, I did some exercises. I did some crunches, some leg lifts and such and then I did some arm exercises with the one pound weights. Um... I'm not real savvy on the exercise 'speak' but I did 5 different exercises, arm curls, etc., and I did them 10 times x 3 times each. Does that make sense? I did each exercise 3 times and each time I did one, I did it 10 times. What the hell do you call that anyway? Smart exercisers out there wanna let me in on the lingo?

So did that plus lots of stretches and did some pampering and "girlie" stuff today. Painted the fingernails. Massaged, inspected, and moisturized the feet. Let Pete cook the supper... Sometimes it's good to be a girl, eh?

I am beautiful, even if you can't see it.

You are beautiful. I sympathize about the heater. I am not as fond of cold as I used to be, something to do with age I suspect. But I hate the heater. It dries out the sinus something awful. I use a humidifier but it only helps a little. Poor me too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.

I tried a humidifier, but the sound of it kept me awake. I guess I could have gotten used to it, but... I gave it away.

YES I can see how beautiful you are :) LOVE your eyes! (in a total platonic way :D tehhehehe) Glad you are doing the blogs! Love it! Yes the MP3 player is most helpful! I was going to get me one but hubby gave him his instead! I went insane and put over 4 thousand songs (ripped alot of my CD's and transfered it. .this one has 60 gigs.. that's.. alot of songs LOL even so it didn't even dent it.. I think I have like 8 gigs used..) I'm still hoping for spring though.

As for lingo.. er.. uhm.. repetitions? I don't know.. I'm terrible at doing exercises so I understand it when you put it like that! I commend you for doing this! I wish I had the wherewithall to do it.

Yes Holly, you are definitely beautiful! We can all see it here and I'm sure your hubby sees it too. (Don't be surprised if he starts to get jealous of how much more beautiful you're becoming each day & also of your new, strong, energetic body.) I also got an IPod for XMas and love it when I go to the gym. Makes the time fly. Although Mick is the exercise guru, I'll take a shot & say I think the exercises you are doing are referred to as '3 sets 10 reps each'. Keep up the fantastic work!

I have an 80 gig Zune.. I think I have used about 1 gig. really need to put more on it. One thing I do put on it is audio books. If you get into a good book you forget all about the time.

Thanks my friends. I would probably be more photogenic if I wore makeup more... but I've just never been a makeup kind of person. It's such a hassle. :) Or maybe I'm just too lazy to bother with it? At least I have some now. But it doesn't do much good sitting in the makeup bag, does it?

Oh great Idea Pam on the Audio books.. I didn't even think about that..

Oh SKW I'm totally not a make up person.. never have been.... it's a hassle for me :p and am too lazy so we share those traits LOL

I can't even remember the last time I wore makeup!

Holly, I think you are beautiful just the way you are. No makeup needed!

I applaud you for creating this blog. You're much braver than I am. ((HUGS))

Hi Anna! Thanks for stopping by. My hope, in doing this, is that I will be more serious in my exercising. If I don't show some improvement over the months to come... that would just be shameful, wouldn't it? :)

You are beautiful, SKW, inside and out.

Holly you are doing great. This will be your year of good health. Beauty, you already have. What a great way to start. I was very good after posting my resolutions, then went on a trip and lost it for a while. (Two Krispy Kreme donuts as a late night snack...) But reading about you has motivated me to go good again. Keep going girl.

Hi Srivalli! Thanks for stopping by. I LOVE your blog, and I'm honored you looked mine up. :)

Your not only beautiful, but well-loved. Keep doing those exercises and keep that sugar down.

Since you say you don't wear makeup much I was wondering if that pretty pucker avatar were your lips? That is a beautiful color on some shapely lips. I am so pale it is hard to find a color that shows up without making me look goth.

btw, I love pictures of your house. Particularly noticed the beautiful wood stair railing and the very deep room behind you. Our house is about 1200 square feet and the rooms are small. As my grandma use to say, "These rooms are so small you couldn't cuss a cat out without getting a hair in your mouth."

Waiting on your next post. (Big Time)

Hiya Karen. Yes... those are my lips. :) Was lucky that shot, eh? It turned out well. I do wear make up sometimes, when I feel all "girlie" and stuff, but it's usually just such a hassle, I don't bother with it. Especially in the warm weather, since I have naturally oily skin... make-up just slides right off when it's hot. Even the expensive kind that says it's "formulated" for oily skin... yeh right.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by. I'm really trying hard this time. This sugar problem is really scary. So many bad things can happen if you don't take care of it. Maybe if you guys keep looking in, I'll work harder so you won't see me fall back, again. :)

Oh yeah, the house, oops! I do like it a lot. I think it's the biggest house I ever lived in, at just over 1600 sq. feet. But it doesn't have much "storage" space. A serious drawback, to my mind. But I like living here. It's pretty, and the neighborhood is wonderful, mostly. My immediate neighbors are quiet and friendly and mind their own business. You can't find that just anywhere. And the area is nicley wooded without being too far from shopping and all that. It looks and feels like we live in the country, without having to drive for miles to get to the grocery store.
